Lara Jean Chorostecki could never be accused of sticking within narrow margins. Nabbing roles in the realms of drama, comedy, crime, science fiction, fantasy, and horror, Lara Jean is an actress known for her versatility and craft, both on screen and stage. 

Born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Lara Jean discovered her love for acting at the age of 8 after watching a theatre production of Les Miserables.

Beginning her professional acting career as a teenager at the prestigious Stratford Festival of Canada, she was the youngest member to ever be accepted into Stratford’s Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre Training.

Lara Jean then found herself in London, England where she completed her Masters in Classical Acting at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Named one of Canada’s 13 Shining Stars by Real Style Magazine, Lara Jean’s feature projects include Guillermo Del Toro’s star-studded Best Picture Oscar-Nominated film Nightmare Alley playing opposite Willem Dafoe, Bradley Cooper and Toni Collette; leading roles in The King Tide with Francis Fisher; Defining Moments with the legendary Burt Reynolds; Debbie in Hammer with Will Patton; Nose to Tail opposite her Hannibal castmate Aaron Abrams; Brandon Cronenberg’s feature film Antiviral; the indie rom-com Please Kill Mr. Know it All (Canadian Comedy Award Nomination); The Masked Saint opposite film and television icon Diahann Carroll; as well as the indie darling Barn Wedding (winner of Audience Choice and Jury Prize for Best Ensemble at the Canadian Film Festival); and short films The Girl Next Door (Cinefest Sudbury 2015) and Boxing (official selection of TIFF 2015).  

Lara Jean can be recognized for her roles in highly acclaimed television series including her heart-wrenching turn as Molly Beth Gordon in Amazon’s smash hit Reacher; her deliciously dark nun in SyFy’s Chucky and then again as the glamorous FLOTUS the following season; NBC's Hannibal, as ruthless tabloid blogger Freddie Lounds; Sergeant Krystina Breeland in CBC's emotionally-driven WWII drama X Company (Canadian Screen Award Nomination); ABC/Netflix hit Designated Survivor as the villainous Beth MacLeish; Starz miniseries Camelot as Guinevere’s closest friend and confidant; Charlie in CTV's Dan for Mayor (another Canadian Comedy Award Nomination); the web series We are Disorderly and The Ungratefuls; and BBC America’s 1860s Irish cop drama Copper as the feisty Sybil O’Brien.

Lara Jean's guest star turns have included roles on Amazon’s sci-fi series The Expanse, ABC’s The Good Doctor, Audience’s spy thriller Condor, CW’s Beauty and the Beast, Fox's Houdini and Doyle, CBS’s American Gothic, SyFy’s Killjoys and Haven, Showcase's Lost Girl, CTV's Saving Hope, City Tv’s Hudson and Rex, CBC’s Frankie Drake and Murdoch Mysteries, NBC’s The Listener and more.

Her theatre credits include four seasons with the Stratford Festival, (most notably appearing as Drina in Peter Hinton's The Swanne, and Katie in Quiet in the Land); Homechild opposite Eric Peterson (Canstage); Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden (Resurgence); as well as Arley-Rose in A Boy Called Newfoundland for critically acclaimed Toronto theatre company Theatre Smash.

Lara Jean also created, produced and co-hosted the hit Company 3 and DGC of Ontario sponsored limited series podcast, Women On Screen Out Loud: The Podcast Essays, which highlights Canadian female identifying artist in the film industry who challenge, motivate and inspire on all sides of the camera.

A frequent globe trotter, Lara Jean (known to most as LJ) can often be found fuelling many of her personal passions of hiking, singing, writing, volunteering with local animal shelters, relaxing with her dog at home, and sharing her love of Shakespeare with students from grades 2 through to university through workshops and speaking engagements.
